I have no idea where you are geographically, but honey you need to find some local support. You have started seven (7) threads, of those five (5) are either asking for help, involve severe medical complications or aftercare issues.
First off, what was the outcome on your incisions opening up after 28+ days from surgery? That could be a major medical issue/complication - you never posted a follow-up as to your outcome with this issue. You had alot of people worried about you.
I hope that you are able to wrap your head around this band, it is a lifestyle change. Please find some local face-to-face support, you and your Dr need to get on the same page and figure out how best the band can work for you. Do have access to a nutritionist, counselor, psychologist, etc. through your band Dr? Does he offer support group meetings, maybe inquire through the hospital that you were banded at? Tell the group here where geographically you are located and maybe someone can chime in with some advice on support.

Well, Lindsay, all I can say is he just sucks. I would try to have a talk with him and let him know how you feel about what he said to you. Even if he feels that you should not have gained, he should have been a little more supportive. In fact, I have heard of a lot of bandsters gaining before their first fill. You did not make a mistake, it is never too late to start over with the band. If you were eating things that you should not, resolve tomorrow to do better. That is all we can do. Good luck!

I can understand the doctors frustration as well as yours. It seems that both of you have had several complications since the surgery. I think I agree that you need to find some local support and start to address your lingering medical issues head on. A three pound gain is not the end of the world and neither of you will remember it in a year.

You need to kick his ass. That's so rude. Where does he come off at. I've had steroid injections twice since I've been banded and both times gained weight. They make you crave everything. He needs to brush up on his bedside manners.
Sending you a hug and your doing great. You can help what meds do to you. Just do your best and that's all you can do.
Hugs,

Yet another example that many doctors have never been fat, dont understand being fat and do not have the empathy to even try.
They're in this for the money. Fat people are big business. He doesnt care about you or anyone else on a deeper level.
You so dont deserve that and I would have given him a roasting, but then I can be pretty assertive when I want to be. In fact I would have told him where to stick his judgemental lecture. But you need to find someone supportive, I really would look for a different doctor.

Lindsay~
I have a lot of health issues. I get sick easily. I had back surgery 3 months after lapband surgery. I have lost weight but not a lot. I am within the amount that they say you should lose with a lap band. The say 1 to 2 Lbs a week. You have been banded now for about 5 weeks. You have lost and average of 4 lbs a week. What is your Dr thinking? I understand that gaining 3 Lbs is stepping back....however weight loss is not an easy task even with a LB and with health issues on top of it.
My Dr gave me a harsh look last time I saw him because I was not exercising. I was still having back problems and was doing what I could. I think you need to sit down with him and tell him it's time for you to listen to me now. Stop making harsh judgements and hear me out. Then if you are not satisfied look for another Dr.

Kick his ASS...Ok now seriously. Tell him exactly what you told us. Tell him he seriously needs to improve his "bed side manner." Tell him that you based on your experience with him would in fact steer potential patients away from him. If nothing else the bottom line issue of losing money should get this creaton in line. If he doesn't change his tune find another doc.
I gained five pounds about 8 weeks after surgery. I wasn't doing all I could to work with the band and I don't yet have proper restriction, haven't had a fill yet. Thus the term bandster hell.
Keep your chin up, advocate for yourself and accept nothing but the upmost care from your health care professionals.

Dont give up! I stayed EXACTLY the same weight from the date of surgery till 9 months out - on the one hand, it was a small victory because I didn't gain (pre-band I would likely have been up 20+ lbs), but let's get real - it was beyond discouraging! I had a heart to heart with my surgeon, demanded that SHE (not her CRAPPY excuse for a resident/assistant) give me all future fills. Magically I started dropping weight like a stone - AND - I stopped getting horrible bruising (like I'd been in a car wreck) every time I got a fill! If you can't talk to this surgeon that is pretty sad but find one you CAN talk to.

May I get my "not-banded" opinion in? I worked for a man several years ago that had gastic bypass as did his wife (dr. may have been running a two-for-one special) but he used to tell me horror stories about his surgeon and his nasty attitude....he was of the opinion that his dr. felt he had "cheated" because he had WLS and not done it the traditional way...........but then you have to wonder why these people choose to do this surgery without any empathy for their patients. MONEY......maybe???????
I was sent to a cardiologist a few years ago who proceeded to tell me my problems were all weight related.......to which I replied, "don't people who are normal weight have heart problems?" His answer was.......your problem is weight related......I said, "I guess we're through here then." I got up and left and dared them to bill me since this was the extent of my visit.....no check up, no questions....nothing.
If a dr. doesn't give you the care you need...both emotionallly and physically.....it's time to move on.

Lindsay your doctor's attitude is outright awful. I can't believe that he said that he wished he hadn't performed your surgery. 3 pounds - is not anything to rant about. We all know that based on the time of day, or what you may have eaten or drank could reflect a change in the numbers on the scale. He is an idiot! Please find a support group in your area. I won't say to find another doctor because that is alot easier said than done. Keep fighting because weigh loss is just that - A FIGHT and you will win this battle.
