Do you have a lapband anniversary coming up? Your first week, month, 6mths, year?
How are you feeling as these landmarks come and go? How has life changed and what have you and your lapband been up to? Has the weight been coming off as you would like? Have there been NSV's (non-scale-victories) and changes other than weightloss? What do you notice and what do other people notice?
We all love hearing about how others are doing so when you hit a landmark, come and tell us what you think about the whole thing!

My Bandiversary will be November 9th. It seems like it is still far away, but it will be here before I know it.
I would LOVE to get under 200 before then, but I do not think that is realistic.
Life has changed so much for me.
I AM NOT SCARED TO WALK AROUND IN THE REAL WORLD ANY LONGER.

My 1 year will be November 17th.
Would love to be 199 by then... 10 lbs form original goal, that means 22 lbs by mid November.
It's doable!

My 1 year bandiversary is this Saturday! I am so grateful to Dr. Thomas Lavin for his wonderful surgical technique and for providing me with this life-altering surgery. I have lost more in this first year than I ever anticipated and I couldn't be happier with the results. Even if I never lost a single pound more, I'd be just as happy.
I'm also grateful for the wonderful friends I've met here. You have been a great support system and I thank you all.

I have had my lapband 6mths today! I'm not sure the total of my weightloss because I'm not weighing in until Sunday. I'll edit and update this page then.....(OK it's Sunday and I'm down 92lbs!!!).
So, what have a I done/learned in 6mths with elpeatha (that's my lapband' name and it means 'hope')?
I generally eat better. I take my time with my food. partly because it's good for me and partly because elpeatha won' let me do it any other way.
I make better food choices and always think protein before I plan what I'm going to eat. Don't get me wrong, I screw up too - exhibit a) one extremely calorific (but utterly scrummy) banana milkshake last weekend.
This trip is harder than I thought it would be. There is no (for me anyway) eating what I like but smaller amounts that I thought there would be. If I want this weight to come off then I have to give up many of the things I love and work hard.
Leads me to exercise. I'm so much better than I was 6mths ago. I can walk around and go places without having knots in my stomach that I can't cope. I still have a long way to go before I will consider myself anywhere near fit but seeing the results is a great motivator to doing more. Buying a treadmill was the best thing I have ever done for myself:nod: . Now what I need is to push myself more. This is something I have never done before in my life (easy option girl, that's me). The weight was falling off but now it's stalled somewhat and I need to up the exercise (Telly, nip round for a few days hon and help me out!). Not an easy one but I'll try.
I've had loads of NSV's (posted elsewhere) and love them more than the scale. My only disappointment in this respect is lack of clothes falling off- I'm still wearing all my original clothes????????? But that will come too- eventually.
I have loved and needed the support I have found here and the friends I have made who's love and concern for my well being is something I now treasure.
And that's about it. The next 6mths beckons. I have to work even harder now to get to where I want to be but with all of you giving your support and encouragement I know I'll keep on trying. In 6mths I will have had my lapband a year and I'll be celebrating my 40th birthday:shocked: . Maybe the old addage 'Life begins at 40' is true afterall?

Oh Ali I am so happy for you and your journey!! I know that you have changed, even if the clothes are not showing it yet. Are they fitting differently? I noticed before I had the great drop in size that my clothes were just fitting differently, but i was wearing the same sizes. Then BOOM! I lost 2 sizes in a month. It was weird. I put on one of my old shirts the other day to run out in the rain and get the mail, and it was like a tent on me!
