I had my first fill a week ago today. It's a one cc fill in a 4 cc band. I can eat anything. I have not had any pain, discomfort or PB's. I was craving everything imagineable. I ate all day long and never felt a signal to stop. I am down and discouraged. I go back to the Doc in three weeks. I don't know what to expect. Could more restriction kick in or will I get looser as time passes? If I keep this up, I will have gained and not lost.On my second check up after surgery the doc commented "only lost one pound". I wanted to say "No, sh--. That's why I'm here for help." I've lost 13 total, but it's from the liquid diet days and not the band. It seems like as I progress back on to more solid food the cravings and lack of control really kicks in hard. Should I expect to get another fill scheduled after the next doc visit? HELP!

Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 or more fills to find that great restriction. I have a 10cc band and at my last fill, 3 weeks ago, I'm at 10. And boy do I have restriction now! But it can take awhile to get there. Just try to practice the bandster rules and work on making healthy choices. Get your exercise in. Hang in there, you WILL get there!

Cheryl is right, SOmetimes it takes a few fills. I have the larger VG (10cc) abdn and it took like 5 fills for me to feel any real restriction. Hang in there, it will get better. One thing I have learned on this trip is that one bad day is ok, just start over tomorrow :)

Thanks guys! I've been under more stress lately and I guess I was hoping for a miracle with the first fill. I'll keep up the good fight.

Keep on keepin' on.....It can be discouraging sometimes...especially when you were expecting more. Everyone's different. You'll get there.

hang in there. There will be better days ahead. Just work the band and be aware of how much food you are consuming. Keeping a food journal that you can show your doc might be helpful.

Speechlady - Are you keeping a food/exercise diary? I find that this really helps me... I haven't had my 1st fill yet. I have some restriction but not a lot - had shaved ham & 1 2% cheese for bf and am starving - I am doing most of the work right now not the band - but even when i am full i still want to eat - we banded our tummies but not our heads (your lack of control). imho i think the band might do 25% of the work but the other 75% is up to you. You are the only one in control of what you eat - if you are hunger try and find low calorie food items to fill up on. I eat tons of veggies when i am hunger (well really about 2 cup) You need to make good food choices - keep a diary and exercise - this band is not the magic pill we all want. Just pull yourself up by the boot straps and get back on the horse - you can do this - call the doctor and see if yo can get in earlier.. Good Luck to you...:sun_smiley:

Everyone is different but I usually do not feel restriction for a day or two after the fill. I have had 3 fills total and just now do I have some restriction and it has been almost 5 months since I was banded. Hang in there restriction will come!

a lot of us get swollen after a fill and we are told to do liquids only for a couple of days post fill because of this, it s also why they will tend to put the fluid in in small amounts at a time, it is frustrating that it can take 2 or 3 fills to get some restriction but it can kick in very quickly when it does and you certainly do not want to get to the point that you cannot even swallow water and need an urgent unfill! As the otehrs have suggested, i would use a food diary to help you keep track of your eating until you get restriction- it is anotehr useful tool to help you use the band until you have better restriction, it is quite lickely that if you have no restriction and are not losing weight at the next vist you will have another fill- there is a sticky thread that tells you how to tell whenyou need a fill- check it out

I DID NOT WAIT AFTER MY FIRST FILL I WENT BACK ONE WEEK LATER AND GOT ANOTHER FILL. That is my bright wisdom. My doctors nurse told me don't sit around and hope. Come in and get filled. So I did and it took.
I knoe everyone is different but if you can get in sooner , go on and go the ony thing you have to lose is weight.
