I saw something that caught my eye today while browsing the internet. I saw a posting for negative calorie foods and apparently these are foods that burn more calories to digest than they contain. I was just wondering if anyone is familiar with this theory and if anyone had any opinions on the subject.
I vaugely remember someone mentioning to me that you can burn more calories eating celory then the food actually is. I don't remember where I heard that. It's an interesting concept.

Hmm, I'd be sceptical on it. You'd have to eat a ton of celery for instance.
Eat less, move more, lose weight. You dont need crackpot stuff like this, its pretty simple really. And I'd argue that you'd burn more than 70 or 80 calories digesting an apple. Celery and lettuce perhaps, but it would take a ton of the stuff.

Isn't this the concept for the cabbage soup diet? If so, then I've heard of it.

LOL! I was not going to follow this for weight loss. I just had never heard of negative calorie foods. I had no idea that stawberries had so few calories. I am not sure if this is the basis for the cabbage soup diet or not but that would make sense.

I agree that this should not be a "diet" to follow. I just think that these items could be a good thing someone who struggles with head hunger. I know that ice water works for me when I have head hunger but it maybe does not work for everyone. Just a thought.

Also understand, Celery is NATURALLY high in SODIUM.
