Can you tell me what pre op tests were required for you?
I am waiting for insurance approval and I believe the next step will be to contact my PCP for necessary pre-op physical, am I right? or...?:idontknow:

Usually to better your case, you would have the PCP testing before submitting to insurance. But then soon to follow is, EKG/ chest xray, EGD, nutritionist, psych evaluation, and major blood test. Good luck to you!
I would definitely get all of your tests done before you submit to insurance. Some docs/insurance have different requirements so make sure you know what is needed. Here's what I had to get done:
basic blood tests (CBC, thyroid, H-Pylori, cholesterol, glucose)
psych eval
nutritionist eval
heart ultrasound (because I have a heartmurmur)
letter of recommendation/support from PCP
medical records from last 5 years showing my weight and attempts at losing weight
Good luck!!

I had to have a psych eval, a sleep eval, nut eval and blood tests. I also had a barium swallow because I have gerd/acid reflux and he wanted to rule out a hiatal hernia. They did an EKG at the pre-op appointment but I think that is standard for any surgery after a certain age. Best of luck!

I was fortunate not to have many tests. I had the psych eval and sleep study. My PCP was not even involved in the process. I did have a barium swollow and EKG on my pre-op appointment

thanks for the info. my pcp has already sent the referral to the band doc. I have had the bariatric center's required evaluations (nutritionist and psych eval) and am now waiting for my insurance to pre-approve the surgical procedure...so, i've never had surgery and am wondering what is involved in a pre-op physical (i do not have any comorbities, but, i do have a bmi of 43, so i do qualify for surgery based on weight only). i am concerned about the anethesia--never having had surgery...i guess it is safe and complications are rare.
