I can't believe that it's been 2 weeks since I've been banded. Saw the doc. on Thursday. He's very plesed with me. I'm down 16 lbs!!! I go back Aug.2nd for my first fill. After 2 weeks on liquids the mushies is almost gourmet - how sad is that. I'm just getting tired of the shakes. Now it's really an effort for me to even want one. Did anyone else go thru this?

I so hear you. I have a week to go before mushies. Your comment that the are almost gourmet made me laugh out loud. Share any good recipies you come across. Happy mushies!

Today is the first day of mushies for me, however, I'm so use to shakes and protien drinks, I think it's a habit now. I only brought liquids for lunch. If you caculate it, liquids two weeks prior to surgery, two weeks after, all I know is liquids right now.

Hi fellow mushie enthusiasts!! I'm halfway through my 2 weeks of mushies and can I just say YuMMMM. I'm finding my tastebuds to be very sensitive or something - things taste sooooo good!! I am finding it hard to get anywhere near enough protein and calories in for the day - a problem I still cannot believe!! I really have to have a high protein shake at least once per day to get that protein in.

here's my newest recipe... white meat chicken I used canned and it was still good!); light sour cream, a little taco seasoning to taste... process it to the consistency of a spread and melt a little grated cheese on top - stir it up again and enjoy!!

Today I'm going to try lump crab meat with a little Old Bay seasoning and either sour cream or cream cheese.

Another thing I have enjoyed because i can get it at a drive through is from Taco Bell... Pintos and cheese with sour cream. You can get 3 or 4 meals out of it - what a bargain!!

Gina that sounds great! I don't know why I can't think of GOOD mushie ideas until someone brings it to my brain!

Moving from liquids to mushies was the best! Gina has some great recipes...I wish I would have used them when I was on mushies. :)

Is there a difference between mushie and pureed?

I think it's the same thing... then you move on to soft foods which are less "blenderized" but still not quite full solids. I think the mushie/pureed is supposed to just be more consistency, without any lumps or pieces of food... soft food has lumps and bits of food. Anyone else know how to describe the difference? Does this sound right?

I found that eating after banding was tastee! Because we eat slower now, food can be savored and anjoyed. Pre-op, I think I "inhaled" a lot of my food and missed out on the taste a lot.

I am going to move this thread to a more appropriate section.

As for when i started mushies. I never though refried beans and fat free sour cream would taste so yummy. LOL

Refried beans and sour cream is one of my favorites! I also love to puree a hard boiled egg and hommus..it is yummy and much healthier than using mayo! (you just have to puree the crap out of it!) A friend of mine said hommus and tuna is good as well. I haven't tried that one yet.
