Hi all,
My doc said I could return to Curves 2 weeks post-op. I am kind of nervous going back so soon. There are alot of machines that you use your stomach muscles. I am just afraid I am going to pull my port away from the muscle or something. I did tell my doctor about the exercise machines and he didn't seem concerned about it. (I should just trust his judgement, he's a wicked thorough doctor) I really want to work out but I don't want to screw things up. Anyone workout at Curves/went back after 2 weeks post-op?

Wow - that does seem soon. My doctor told me to wait 6 weeks after surgery before starting to do weights/machines at the Y.
Personally, I think you are in the best position to determine if you are ready. If not, don't feel badly. Just stick to walking or something. A few more weeks waiting isn't going to hurt anything!

i am also a curves member - and my doc told me to wait one month... and to walk while i was waiting to jump back on the resistance machines! :) but every doc is different... go with what you feel most comfortable with. my curves is also ok with you skipping a machine if you're uncomfortable using it and some even have "alternate" moves you can do on the floor without resistance. steer clear of the ab machine once you go back for a couple weeks!!!!!!!!! do some good ole' fashion crunches on the floor instead!!! :) good luck!

My dr told me at 2 weeks also. I think I went like 2 times that week, I just took it really slow and skipped any machine that was straining my tummy. My dr said just listen to your body and you will know what is too much. Also, maybe just start out like once around or twice maybe.
My doc said one month for exercising and 6 weeks for weights and abs stuff. But you should only do what you are comfortable doing...start off slowly. Good luck!

I'd be a bit cautious about doing weights at 2 weeks out. You can easily strain your abs doing non ab related work. Its the internal pressure that's the problem.
Personally, I'd walk for the first six weeks.

Thanks for all your responses. I am going to have my staples out tomorrow so I will ask him again. I think I am going to go easy though, no matter what he says, I might just walk for another week or 2 and then gradually get back into the groove of Curves. Thanks again for all your support!!!
