On average how much weight loss should I expected in 6 months....? 12 months?

I do know it depends on intake of food, exercise etc... but I was rather curious what I would look like by Christmas..

thanks,
Cheri

As you said, everyone looses at a different rate and a lot will depend on your diet, water intake, and exercise. It seems that most people lose rather quickly those first six months and then things slow down. Whether that is from a loss of excitement and commitment or a biological event that the body experiences as a means of self-preservation is as much your guess as it is mine.

The average bandster should expect to lose between 1-2 pounds per week, or 4-8 pounds per month. That equates to 52-104 pounds in your first year. I would say the best bet would be to figure 8 pounds per month for your projections, and then if you do better it will be a pleasant surprise.

Be sure to take your measurements and before pictures now. Take a front, side, and back picture so you can compare them with your progress throughout the journey. Sometimes it's very hard to see that change in ourselves until we see those side-by-side photos!

I'm excited for you! You're about to change your life!

Absolutely what Susan said. 1 to 2 pounds per week on average. It will also depend on how aggressive your doctor is with fills, etc.

Bear in mind too that that initial weight loss can be really disappointing, even at the relatively *low* BMI of 35, I had lost at least 25lb before I looked different or had gone down a clothes size. And it probably was a good 40lb before people started saying "wow, you've lost weight".

But it gets better and better the less you have to lose!

Since we are all so different and the band reacts differently inside each of us, making an average isnt easy. For me I lost the most weight in the first 6mths and then things evened out a little. Its a case of doing the best you can and being happy with the results you get and most of all trying not to make targets too unrealistic so that not attaining them will disappoint you.
