Yes....it hit me suddenly today and I want to nip this nasty little habit in the bud and I need your suggestions and help.

Whenever I used to cook, I tasted and tasted and tasted. It was actually more like eating standing up, while I cooked.

Anyway....it all started the other day when I realized that I have no restriction (just banded) and can eat whatever I want to. I nibbled on a cooked mushy green bean. Innocent enough, right? Lightning didn't strike, and it tasted divine. Then today, while I was making a pasta salad for a dinner party tonight, I tasted the dressing, then I tasted the green peas, then I tasted the PASTA! I even ate a nut. :clock:

Heeeellllllpppppp! I don't want to revert to my old ways. How can I break this tasting habit?

Lyn....I chew sugar free gum (which i know banders are not suppose to do) or i will brush my teeth right before i cook (no one likes to eat after brushing there teeth, it just taste funny.

Hope this is some help to you. Good Luck with it.

I've never been a taster, but I like the idea of brushing teeth before cooking...I, for one, hate the taste of stuff mixed with fresh toothpaste! Great idea, Cindy!

Thats a good idea to brush teeth before cooking, also maybe try putting a mint or sugar free hard candy in your mouth. Maybe try drinking a big glass of water too it might make you feel like you are full and not want to taste.

Have a glass or bottle of water by your side and each time you catch yourself with the spoon, take a glug. Then you can reward yourself for doing the right thing and you're getting your water for the day in at the same time. The teeth brushing thing is cool though! Will give that a go myself if and when I get the nibbles.

You guys are great. Thanks for the suggestions. I will try them all.

So just imagine me....right before cooking, I shall....
* Brush my teeth
* Pop some sf gum in my mouth
* Have water by my side

Thank you all so much. I'll really try to do better with this.
