I'm making this thread because let's face it we all get it!
It's uncomfortable and sometimes painful.
For me it causes tightness and I pb more...
What do you us to curb the pain? Ease the gas?
I use GasX store chewables berry flavored- they taste like candy to me lol and they work (for me)
Is there something you have used that just taste nasty?! Let us know about that too! lol

I find that good positioning helps this.
Lay on your side, bring the knee of your top leg up onto the bed in front of you, as high up as you can, roll forward a bit and let things naturally come out. Of course you'll want to be alone, have no candles lit in the room, be sure the cat's not curled up behind you and put on your protection. :painkiller:
Remember that old addage, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"? I believe that a lot of us suffer needlessly with gas issues. Looking at our diets might give us some insite as to why we have gas in the first place. Of course some gas is inevitable, but excessive and painful gas is most likely coming from undigested protein. Soy protein is one of the mild mannered culprits that cause gas. Soy being a vegetable protein source means that it is not easily digested and sits in the colon and rots. Making.. you guessed it, gas. Beans are a high source of protein too, but being a vegetable they are notorious for giving people gas (because of the high protein content). Vegetables with lower amounts of protein would probably be the wiser choice, unless of course you are a veggie-tarry-un. That would be a horse of a completely different color.

Another good position for releasing gas the natural way is too kneel on a flat surface and bend until your shoulders touch the same flat surface that you are kneeling on. It works wonders and releases everything pretty quickly.

I guess I'm fortunate, I haven't had any painful gas issues (at least not yet!). I have huge burps though. I reside in cubeville at work and sometimes it's pretty embarassing. I try to muffle them but they are so long sometimes. I sure the heck didn't have this problem pre-band.
Sorry, I guess this is probably TMI, huh? Hehe-heh!

*giggles at the image of sue doing this*
I know, I shouldnt laugh, but farts are so damn funny!
I dont have the band but I get those kind of burps sometimes too where it just sort of comes out, no push, no control. Usually mine are in the morning though after I've slept on my stomach. I roll over and wake the dog with my good morning release of gas.

i HATE...HATE having gas. I get so embarasse by burping or farting. omg. this has been the worst for me. Last night I had so much gas my shoulder pain came back. It was awful. and gasx doesn't work for me. :( i spent a lot of last night in the bathroom burping and farting (Yes, i get up out of bed and go to the bathroom to do it.) I have no idea why it was so bad last night. my food was just the same as usual. it drove me NUTS!!! but this morning i am gas free again and livin life.

I burp ever time I eat or drink anything. Not painful, just annoying to myself and everyone around me.
Fifteen minutes after eating the farting starts. Again not painful, just annoying to myself and everyone around me.

Don't feel bad I run outside -usually in the back yard to let 'em rip. omg i let one out in the bathroom once, and the whole house was busting my chops...years later!!! Not fair, I should be allowed to let them out musically like the rest of my family!! LOL Someday I will get the courage.

The good thing about having the gas it means your eating right as it is a by product of good digestion.
I never have trouble with gas. The min I feel it, I let it escape. Sometimes now since the surgery I don't have control over this process.
I teach at a local college and I had a classroom of 52 students. I was writting on the board and dropped the marker. In the past I had trouble bending over to pick up things. I no longer have this problem and I actually enjoy picking things up "Cause I can". Well my enthusiam to bend over was rewarded by a very loud expulsion of gas. Took the class about 10 minutes to settle down....Oh well. Gave them an extra break and went back to teaching.

I'm a lot like maryb in that I burp almost every time I eat or drink something. I never used to burp in front of my husband but now I just can't help it.
