An Update from Officegirlblues

Hey everyone. It seems like its been ages since I last visited and I'm sorry about that. This roller coaster that I ride on daily called life just got in the way for a while what with closing out one construction project, loosing our office, trying to find another office, starting up a new construction project, and on and on and on. Things have been, to say the very least, hectic as all get out!

I just wanted to take a minute to let you know that I found out this morning that BCBS of AL has now agreed to cover the Lap-Band!!!!! I'm almost afraid to say that outloud! I've waited for 4 years to have this surgery and FINALLY it seems like the ball is rolling in that direction. I can't tell you how excited I am! My surgeon's office didn't even know they were covering it now! LOL. I emailed Customer Service yesterday, gave them the specifics on my policy info. (the group #, etc.) and low and behold they emailed me back and said it was covered if I meet the criteria! I have to say I'm almost in a state of shock. I have wanted this for so long and have lurked around on boards getting inspration from all of you, while at the same time, trying so hard not to be jealous because I couldn't do it, too and now that it seems like it will be a reality instead of a pipe dream it is almost scary!

My "first" appointment with Dr. Avara at SWMSWLC is on June 4th. I can't wait! I've gone through this part before so I guess its not really a huge deal except that I know this time surgery is hopefully in my near future!

Anyway, I know I've rambled on long enough, but I just wanted to let you guys know. Thanks for all the inspiration and keep me in your thoughts!

Hi stranger. Glad you gave us an update. Thats great news about your insurance. We will keep our fingers crossed that is goes smoothly from here on out. Keep us posted :)

Oh, Hope! I know how you feel! I had to wait two years....AND, tomorrow is my surgery! So, good for you! Begin now to celebrate the rest of your life. And, for everyone, I look forward to being with you as a real life "bander!"
