I had some set backs with getting my surgery done. They discovered a hickup in my heart beat and we had to get that ironed our first and so it postponed my surgery for a month and a half. I was finally banded on 4-16-07. That first day was murder and I didn't expect it to be so horrible, but I've recovered nicely now.
My only concern is I feel no restriction and I am hungry ALL the time. I can't find any info in the material they sent home on when they'll do the first fill. I've done pretty well staying on the diet, but instead of eating 4-6 ounces of chicken, I'm hungry after 30 minutes and end up eating a whole chicken breast and can of green beans and then 2 hours later I'm eating a protien bar and 2 hours later I'm hungry again. I don't feel I've lost much weight, which concerns me. I didn't expect to feel restriction right away because I know they don't put fluid in the band until your swelling goes down, but I dind't expect to be this hungry all the time and eating this much.
My appointment with the Doc is Friday so most of my answers will come then, but I'm just wondering if anyone else had a simular experience.
Hope you guys are doing great!!!
Rich

Hi Rich,
Glad your feeling better now. What you are going through is refered to as "Banster Hell" :) Its very common to feel hungry after the swelling goes down from surgery and before you are properly filled. Hang in there, it gets better, I promise :) Although doctor's requirement vary, most will fill at 6 weeks post op. Keep us updated on your appointment

HI Rich,
congratualtions on getting your band, you are right in the midst of bandster hell at the moment, basically recovered from surgery but no restriction yet. some practices actaully warn patients that they may gain small amounts of weight in this period but then point out that you are still really in the healing phase evne though you feel relatively well- the tissues that have been cut and stitiched are still healing. they want to know that you can eat a good diet at the moment as this is essential for healthy tissue repair but as neal said, most surgeons will consider a fill after 6 weeks- even then, patience may be required as it often takes more than one fill to get you right. good luck, let us kow how you are going
