Glad to see a few people here. I normally check back here and there. My name was showing as the last person to post for so long, I didn't think anyone else was around.

Are there any Maryland activities/meetings/etc???

If not, anyone interested in starting one up with me? I'm in the Annapolis area - work closer to Baltimore, so either of those areas would be great!!!

I am from Maryland. I go to St. Agnes support group every 3rd Wednesday of the month. I got my band Jan. 30, 2007. I haven't found any support groups in Anne Arundel County. They all seem to be in Baltimore.

hey peaches and greeneyetiger!!!! :welcome3: :welcome3:

where are you both in MD? where did you have surgery?

i am in annapolis - i had my surgery with dr.VR at GBMC in baltimore - it was closer for me with work.

as far as AA county groups, i know they have a support group that meets at a library in crofton, but it is a mix of bandsters and gastric bypass patients (my neighbor turned me on to it - she got GB) but to be honest with you, i felt like i didn't fit in bc there was just me and one other LBer and the rest were GBers - so i haven't gone back!!!!!!!! but i like my support grp. at GBMC (that meets april 11th for anyone who wants to come) :)

So excited for you, Deb!!!! Did you get my PM? Are you prepared for next week? I am keeping you in my thoughts!!! Do let us know how it goes as soon as you feel up to getting on the computer! :)

You'll love the GBMC surgerical staff... I hope that you get the same Pre/Post-Op nurse I had -- I forget his name - but he is a RIOT and had me laughing the WHOLE time!!!!!! (tall, thin, dark hair, facial hair) anyway, with Dr. VR's dry personality - this nurse truly was my salvation that early in the morning bc i was a NERVOUS WRECK! it was my first time ever in the hospital as a patient (besides being born, of course) so he REALLY REALLY helped a bunch!!!!

do you know what time your procedure is?

** And remember my enima tip - that was HUGE for me!!!! No gas pains!!!

Hi Jess and everyone,

I am so glad to see some bandsters in Maryland. Just getting used to my band and trying to choose the right foods. Learning more everyday. My nutritionist says I am doing good. I go to a support group every 3rd Wednesday at St.Agnes hospital. It is real nice. I wish there were places closer to me in southern Anne Arundel County. I look forward to getting to know all of you better.

Hi Jess, I did get your pm, I am not sure how ready I am cause Im a nervous wreck. I had my gall bladder removed 2 years ago but this feels so different.

They are supposed to call me today about the details, Kathy said I would get there very early.

Wow, I am so glad we finally have more friends on this board, Keep in touch everyone.

Hi everyone. I thought maybe you all would like to get together at some point for lunch or something. I know we all live in different directions in MD but maybe we can find a midway point for all of us so it is fair. I hope you all are doing well.

:welcome: deanna!!!! where are you having surgery?

so how does everyone feel about planning our first "regional B2G get together" for this summer at some time?

"Just Jess"
11-25-2007, 08:09 AM
ok the summer idea apparently fell through.......... hahaha -- how about shortly after the new year? anyone still interested in getting a "regional" gathering? even if it is just for lunch someplace around DC to meet and chat?

deannakauders
12-10-2007, 06:02 PM
:)no I did not make that meeting because of the weather. did you go? and how was the christmas party? we should plan to meet there, at the next meeting.:)

"Just Jess"
12-10-2007, 06:18 PM
honestly, i forgot all about it and did not know about any christmas party.

remind me the next time a meeting comes up - i'd go if i knew someone my age was going to be there ((the last time i went everyone was in their 60s and talking about all sorts of off-the-wall things i could not relate to))

i am at my parents for the holidays -- but i did pick up the 2008 support group schedule when i as in last week...

btw, i met dr. mo last week - dr.vr was called over to the hospital, so he was unavailable to meet with me. i don't know if i really cared for dr.mo either. i guess i'm just hard to please - or just have personality clashes with everyone in this damn office! haha

how has your experience been? are you happy with dr. mo? how is your rate of loss?

deannakauders
12-28-2007, 05:55 AM
:)dr mo has been really great with me. i really like him and did from the start. i am a medical assistant so maybe i have a different point of view. he saw me in the hospital a couple times a day, was very worried over me. so I felt very well taken care of.:)hope this helps you make your choice.:)

We need to plan our DC, MD, VA get together...

I'm not much of a planner. but we need to find a "neutral" ground location to meet and have a bite sometime in January.

Any ideas?

Who all would be interested?

"Just Jess"
12-28-2007, 04:37 PM
there are thousands of great restaurants in DC... that seems like it would be the most neutral location, right? how about adams morgan? we can have moraccan --- sit on pillows and eat with our hands. all the food is mushy, great wine! :) just a thought. we can, of course, go for something a bit more simple and more well-known cusine as well.

i would propose maybe february or march at this point, though. i know a lot of people (myself included) need more than a month's notice.
