Okay Mass people. I'm trying to get a handle on the post-ops diets. I think all doctors/hospitals are different in terms of the post-op diets and the length of the stages. At Beth Israel, they require 3 weeks of liquids, 2 weeks of mushies and then off to normal food. How are some of the other hospitals in town?

I have 3 weeks of full liquids & jello, then 3 weeks of mushies, ( Doc recommends baby food!) then 3 weeks of gradually increasing real foods. First 3 weeks, 500 cals & 60 g protien, second 3 weeks, 800 cals & 60 g protien. Can't recall off the top of my head the next 3 weeks. Learned to listen to my Surgeon and ignor the hospital.

I think it depends on the doctor. I am on my second week of liquids. My surgery is next Monday. The first 2 days were the hardest. Just get through the first 2 and it gets easier. In 7 days I have lost 9.4 pounds.
Good luck.
