Hey everyone my name is Jean, I'm from Utah. I've been lurking around the boards for a few days now and decided to say hi. I am 18 years old and am hoping to get the band sometime soon, but am trying to figure out the weird maze of insurance hassells at the moment, because the cover the bypass (no stomach stapling for me.. ew :blech:) but not that band so hopefully I can figure something out so that all goes well! I am looking forward to an amazing journey with the lapband. :nod:

Hi Jean and welcome! I think you might be our youngest member to date. Oh what I wouldn't have given to have this tool available to me at 18 years old! I hope you get all of the insurance stuff worked out. It will most likely require a lot of patience and jumping thru the hoops, but in most cases it's not impossible. There are many who were once in your shoes and are now on the way to better health and happier lives because of their bands.

There are quite a few wonderful bandsters in Utah. I'm sure they'll be around to welcome you soon.

Hey Jean. Welcome to b2g. I have just recently joined the group too. I got banded a week ago and I am 20. Aren't we lucky that we have this available to us at a younger age! You will have your whole life to enjoy the band. If you have any questions or anything, the people here at b2g are great.

Hey Jean, welcome to B2G! I hope things work out for you. Check out the insurance board. Also, a word of encouragement; my insurance (BCBS NC) did not cover the band. They thought it was experimental. But in February they changed their policy and I was approved in March, having surgery in April. So there is some hope out there! Good luck!

I am glad to meet another new mameber but also one who is keen enough deal with this issue in such a mature way at such a young age- it is a big step but as p'nut said- I wsh i had access to this tool when I was younger- do not do what so many of us have done by wasting an extra decade before we fix the problems- good luck

Hello Jean,

I am going in Monday Apr2nd for my band. I am very excited. My insurance did not cover banding when I first checked it out in July 06. But shortly after that they started covering it. My Dr sent the paper work into insurance on a Thur and we had approval on Monday.
