Anyone have any luck with these types of food?
When I was on the Microbiotic diet found several things with brown rice and oatmeal I liked, but too afraid to try it.
Anyone want to be a guinea pig???? :wink2:

I regularly include both without problem. Plus both are excellent whole-grain carbs!

I like eating rice, but have noticed it fills me up REALLY fast and I usually get sick on it. But oatmeal has done fine. I've just started eating more and have had no problems.

I eat oatmeal and white rice with no problem. I'm with EmileeKaye though, rice tends to fill me up pretty quiclkly though I don't get sick from it.

I'm an oatmeal eater as well. I make it a bit different these days though. I used to make a huge pan of it, throw in a stick of butter and pour on a cup or two of sugar! Eeep! Now I make a very small pan, and I add Splenda and one thin pat of real butter. I can eat about 1/2 - 3/4 Cup.
Havent had any rice in the 14 months I've been banded.

I tried an Alton Brown receipe that was pretty good. It is suppose to be made with couscous, but I made it with brown rice and blended it a little:
1 cup milk, vanilla, splenda, and dried cherries boiled together for about 10 minutes.
Mix with cous cous, and add one container of vanilla yogurt. Let sit for an hour and then eat.
I did mine this way. Measured in small crock pot, 2/1 ratio water/brown rice. Put in cherries and let rice cook. After rice is done mix in milk, vanilla, splenda, yogurt and a few more cherries.
Then I put my portion in a personal blender and blended it a little. I thought it was good.
Oh yeah, and you put cinnamon on top to taste!!!
Poodles that recipe sounds good!! I can eat brown rice and oatmeal just fine. Although I hardly ever eat rice.

I do OK w/ oatmeal but any type of rice gets stuck immediately. I always forget because I think it SHOULD be easy.

I do oatmeal, but have trouble with rice... can't seem to chew it up enough, and occasionally it gets a little stuck. Not a full PB, but enough to discourage it!
