Wow I totally forgot how hard the liquid diet is... you know the stages after getting banded?.... Well I remember helping people saying how hard it is and how they are starving. And me saying " oh its okay, its hard but you can get through it... and its worth it... and it will be over before you know it" Well bygolly I guess I should listen to my own words... but OMG This is so hard!!!! I am a week out and still on liquids and IM STARVING!!! or I think I am. Well next week I can start having thicker soups (no chunks) and yogurt. But I guess I really forgot how hard the liquid diet was. I will be more compassionate to thoes on liquid diets from now on....
Now to take a crash course on all the bandster rules!!! wow it is like starting over!

Trish...if you like to cook I put two awesome liquid recipes on that other site. If you'd like I can put them up here, too. They are really good.

I'm so happy that you got your new band. It's about time that you have something good happen for you after all you've been through.
That liquid diet is the pits, isn't it!!! I honestly feel for you because I remember the agony to this day.
Keep up the great work girl. Before you know it you'll be dropping the pounds and feeling wonderful!

Trish,
It IS starting over.
Just remember, its easier to go through a forest that has a trail.
Youve done this before... you KNOW you can do it again.
Try to find something to occupy your mind... Are you able to walk yet? or a fun/addictive computer game may help.
Just take it one day (hour, minute) at a time!
You're gonna do fine. ((hugs))

Hello All,
I have spent alot of time reading your posts today and have got alot of good ideas that I was not aware of such as getting your pain meds filled since alot of Pharmacies don't stock them.
Also what to be prepared with? But can someone explain to me why we need heat pad and what does it do?
I am a excited and scared at the same time I have never had a surgery and the part about being put to sleep. I know I will be fine but it the time before surgery gives me alot of time to think.
My surgery date is September 29th performed by Dr Walter Rose at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga TN at 10 am. Should be home the day day.
Tomorrow I go for all my preop testing and the upper GI. After that test don't think there is anything else I need to do at least that I am aware of at the moment lol
But this board is really helping to stay occupied and learining alot.
For those that have upcoming surgery my prayers and thoughts go out to you.
If there is any tips or suggestions you think I should know feel to email me or send them on here is great.
Thanks for making me feel so welcomed :phone:

A heating pad will help with gas pain and incision pain. Some people alternate the heating pad with an ice pack - sounds weird, but anything it takes to get past those first couple of days is worthwhile. I found that just putting the heating pad on it's lowest setting and holding it in my arms was comforting.

I have been on liquids preop for a week now and the protein shakes (I use Isopure fron GNC -50 grams of protein) have been a real lifesaver. I have 12 oz for each meal and have broth and sugar free jello for snacks.
