I was browsing through here today and had a couple of questions come up.

1) If your band errodes or slips etc. Does insurance pay to have it replaced if they pay for it originally?

2) If your port ends up tilted do you have to have that fixed? or is that only if it flips?

Thanks

From what I can remember, IF your insurance initially covered the lap band procedure, then it SHOULD cover removal or a slip repair.
If youve changed ins's (like me) and the new one doesnt cover lap-band, then most times your doctor will admit you through the ER and remove the band (which ins should cover) - but limited coverage for slip repair.
Am I making sense?

Ill let someone more experienced answer #2. :D

My insurance would not cover my getting the band. However, if I had any complications, or need it removed, they will cover that. Go figure!

As for the port, if it is tilted, I guess it would depend on how bad and if they can still do fills or not. Mine flipped, so I had to have it repaired.

This from my work exp #1 - yes normally if your insruance covers it, it will pay to have it replaced. Most want to approve both the removal and the replacement at the same time even if they aren't taking place at the same time.

My personal exp #2 - My doc was able to access my port when it was tilted no problems...however when it flipped he couldn't do it in the office he could do all my fills under fluro. However since I was going to work for him and our insurance doesn't cover the band he went ahead fixed it before I lost my other insurance. (I know don't ask....)

Hope this helps some. :)

Gross question, if it flips, I am assume you mean, flips OVER right?
And if he had to do fills under fluro, did he like flip it back over by feeling around ???
that sounds soo gross
