Ok, since I own a lot of property in North Carolina, and my husbands whole lineage is from there, scotland before that, I wanna play here too. :) I am up that way often, and will let y'all know. Maybe some of us can meet up for coffee and laughs!! :D so can i can i can i can i can i? hehehe

well our property is in Old Fort. My husband's family has owned this porperty since North Carolina was founded. They are actually one of the founding families. The town used to be known as Daviston (our last name is Davis) and the old Daviston baptist church is still there. The cemertary is filled with his family memebers from all the way back before the civil war. Its pretty neat! (not the cemetary part, but its cool to have the family all in one place) Its in mcdowell county. Right outside of asheville and up in the mountains. Infact the property is nestled in a valley in the mountains...still high up, but surrounded by peaks. Its the most amazing scenic area ever! I love north carolina! The RV park and campground is currently open, so if any of you qish to take a drive and vacation in your own backyard just let me know and i will give ya directions.

We try to come up to North Carolina once a season. its been tough lately with work, but now that I am not working for microsoft anymore and owning my own business we have a lot more free time. :)

Beeee-yoot-a-ful! I'll hit Ashville. Hubby and I have threatened to take a day trip to the mountains with the kiddos.

Give us the heads up! I'd love to road trip up that way, with or without the family. :)

It's funny that Funny posted this because I was just thinking....I could come to Charlotte. I think it is a 5 hour drive from where I live. I'd like to come to one of the lunches....perhaps this summer. I could leave early morning and be there by lunch time!

Mike is from Charlotte.
I've met Kathy a couple of times.
We visit NC at least once a year - Charlotte area AND Burnsville/Ashville area.

.........IF I bring my bucket and shovel, can I play with your sand, too?

Funny, Heather, Paula, Alicia...welcome. We are a very close knit group and love new people.

Please let us know when ya'll make it NC. We always make plans around people.

Funny my SIL lives in Whitter NC, that is about an hour from Asheville. My MIL is building up there w/ them. shhh - DH and I are doing the happy dance for that one. haha.

ROAD TRIP!!!!! I am excited and can't wait to meet you all. You know we love group pics so be ready when you come.

Oh, Oh, Oh. I want to know where the RV park is. Absotootenly! My DH's brother is developing property somewhere around there, and while their house lot could accomodate us, apparently there is a really hard turn that I don't think our RV would be able to navigate. So, I want directions! Hopefully within a year we will be visiting there!


And, I can leave DH in the RV and I can come a lunch. That would be soooo cool.

Stitchy, i sent you a pm.

I know what you mean about the roads up to his house. There are 4 developments surrounding us in the peaks, and all of them have roads that even the firefighters refuse to bring trucks up. In fact there was an emergency the other day, and they bring in the helicopter and air lift them off the mountain side from their home, and they used our big field at the campground to touch down and transfer the person to the ambulance. It was quite exciting for my inlaws LOL
