And everything was ok except a couple thing... I'm iron and vit. D deficient, so now I"m taking supplements to help with that.

Annnd, my blood glucose was high?!?! On fasting bloodwork?!?!? I'm only 21! So that's the bad news, I might be diabetic. I'm going back on the 29th of this month to have a glucose test run, and that will either confirm or deny that I'm diabetic, but the PA said if I'm not diabetic, then I'm likely prediabetic.....Sigh, that's what I get for wishing for a co morbidity! Diabetes does run in my family. The only good thing about it is, it will make it easier for me to get approved.

Also got an appointment for my sleep test- March 23rd.

Hi, even if you are, you will be fine after the band. I think after a while almost everyone is off most of their meds.

Alot of the diabetes is made worse with weight, no matter if your insulin resistand or other diabetic.

I am on 1/4th of my meds and only take them once a day now..and that is 4 weeks after surgery!!!

Good luck!

Yep, I'm just glad i discovered the band when I did. I'm actually hoping that I'm just "prediabetic" becase the weightloss will help with that.

And as for my sleep test, I hope that I have a mild case of sleep apnea because losing wieght will help with that as well. :D

And both of those are two really good reasons for my insurance company to approve me. Yay!

I just thought of a question for anybody-- Who writes your letter of recommendation? The surgeon? or in my case the person who did my physical, the PA?

My regular doc wrote my letter of recommendation for me. As far as the diabetes goes, I was on insulin tablets, thyroid meds, and had sleep apnea when I had my surgery. The insulin tabs and thyroid meds were never needed again after surgery and I don't need my cpap anymore. The only things I take now are multi vit, b-12, iron and fish oil.
