I -prefer- slim fast high protien shake. But Im not sure if this is the best one to drink for WLS patients...
Does anybody recommend anything different?
What about making a protien shake out of the powder mix? Anyone have experience doing this? What kind of high protien powder do you use?

Can't stand the powders... any of them
When I do use a shake (canned), I use the Atkins shakes.

Paul, it depends on your blender. My blender is fantastic!! I put ice in with the powder and have a great shake.

I use Wal-Mart brand Body Fortress whey protein powder, vanilla flavor. By itself, it's just as yucky as you'd expect, so I mix it with skim milk and add 3 tablespoons of sf ff chocolate pudding and a tablespoon of peanut butter. Tastes like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup that way! Mmmmmmmmmm.
Because of the added calories from the pudding and the peanutbutter, I only use this mixure if I'm in a liquids only phase, like post op, post fill, etc. I don't think this would be a good choice for simply adding protein to your daily intake. For that, I would recommend Isopure Zero Carb. It doesn't taste great but it's not horrible either. OK, it's pretty awful, just not gagging bad.
So, DOES anyone have any good ideas for protein supplementation? lol

I have tried A LOT of protein drinks. I have 2 that are my favorite. One is the Soytien shakes. They have all kinds of flavors. I get them at my local health food store. The other favorite is something I ordered from Herbal Life. It's for weight management & Healthy Nutrition. The Soytein tastes YUMMY, however the Herbal Life is packed with nutrients & it also tastes excellent. And, I don't drink it if it doesn't taste good!!
1 cup vanilla Soy milk
crushed ice
banana
2 scoops of protein powder
Mix in blender until creamy!!
Herbal life also sells protein powder that you can just add into your shake. Each Tbls has 5 grams of protein. I usually add in 2 scoops & can't tell a difference in the flavor. I love um!!
I use the Soy milk because it also has more protein & it's creamier.

Im an EAS girl. I love their chocolate (fudge and rich dark) and coffee (caramel and latte) flavored Ready to drink drinks. I am not a vanilla shake person. But I will use the vanilla EAS powder to add to any kind of fruit smoothie thing I make.
It gives it a richer flavor. but I ABSOLUTELY hate fake strawberry taste, so I havent even bothered to try the strawberry kind

I have always been a True Blue Atkins Shake lover. I only like the chocolate flavors.
BUT, then I discovered SlimFast High Protein Chocolate... LUV that! It is a little bit cheaper.

I'm just starting to try some of the shakes. I have tried SlimFast and I don't like the powder or the cans. I bought some EAS AdvantEdge Rich Dark Chocolate shakes this weekend and they are really tasty! I was surprised. I'm trying to use shakes as meal replacement for lunch just to see how it goes. I had my shake at around 1:30 and so far, so good. I am hungry, but not OMG I have to eat right now or my head is going to explode hungry so I think it is going to be doable. Anyway, I ramble. Keep the suggestions coming! There are so many products out there, it's nice to read of other's experiences with everything!

Any of you that have protein shake recipes like Diane's, please add them to the cookbook thread! they would be a great addition to the book, and very helpful to new bandsters and old alike :)

I prefer the Body Fortress brand (vanilla and chocolate) found at Wal-mart or Sam's Club. I don't add anything to the shake - just powder and skim milk.
I just tried a sample of Hank's Finest Protein Powder Milkshake - chocolate flavor - and YUCK!! That stuff was sooooo sweet, I felt like I was drinking pure sugar.

Does anyone have an opinion on Nectar or Unjury? My doc recommends these two brands. I ordered a sample pack from bariatriceating.com, so when it comes I'll post ratings on the 15 samples I got.
