Iam going to quit smoking tomarrow cold turkey........Did anyone else quit cold turkey? and can you give me some tips on how to get though this......for some reason i feel scared doing this my self................
I've never been a smoker, but I have supported my mom and my sister (who has quit 4 times now) to get through it. Good luck and feel free to rant and rave to us here. Also check out Kathy's thread about quitting.

Thankfully I never smoked either but both my parents quit smoking cold turkey- each one had a specific event that signalled 'enough is enough". The chose not to tell anyone of there decision ( they felt that put them undelr less pressure) and rather than saying the quitm they were chosing not to smoke that next cigarette- until the day he died my father would not say he had given up, simply that he was chosing not to smoke- he maitainted that for 15 yrs! I think the only thing you can do is take one day at a time, look for small goals and rewards- same as with weightloss- As Jessica said, Rant and rave as much as you need- we will support you as much as we can you are not alone in spirit

It is not an easy thing to do. I've quit in the past but been stressed to the point of starting again. I've not had a cigarette since this past Tuesday and so far so good. The surgeon told me that he'd like for me to quit before surgery so I decided to give it a try. You CAN do it. Best of luck.

I don't meant to be offensive, and will admit I only glanced over this thread...
You're going to quit smoking cold turkey...
So what?
I love smoked Turkey. Very tasty. But I don't think I'd make a federal case out of not eating it. Personally, I've never tried smoking myself. as I don't have a good location on my property for setting up a smokehouse
This might be a silly question, but...
Wouldn't you be better off if you quit smoking cigarettes instead?
I guess I'm just a little confused. See what happens when you are away for a long time and have to speed read through all the threads

Hang in there it gets better. I have a terrible thing going on that feels like a cold but I have quit now for 6 days!:wink2:
Yeah--Pamla--my closet smoking buddy. You can do this thing! I've never looked back...however, I did tell Kathy that if I lived to be 85, I might buy a pack of Virginia Slim menthols and just sit down and smoke and laugh!
Wow you are all doing so great!!! Keep supporting each other in your efforts to quit, it really does help. Pretty soon you'll be at 3 months like Kathy. :)

I'm two months smoke free, however, my blood pressure is up. I've heard this would happen, but anyone know why?
