For the first year and a half after banding, I didnt have ANY problems consuming alcohol. I could even sip down an entire beer IF I did it slow enough.
Then..
Something happened.
Since last Fall, Im unable to tolerate even a SIP of any alcoholic beverage.
Ive tried wine, maragaritas and beer...
:puke: PB city everytime!
Ive gone up to 4 or 5 hours later - thinking all was well, then PBed my guts up, until all the alcohol was cleared out of my tummy.
anyone else have alcohol interolance?

I can tolerate it, in small quantities...
i.e. I am a cheap drunk. Only takes a couple drinks, so I have to be careful that I don't make myself sick, as it wouldn't take much.
Don't have a PB issue though.

Yikes Paula! That is something I don't want to happen to me. I am only 10 months out and so far I can drink any alcohol.

Hmm, ask your Dr! I'm wanting to know what he/she says!
Cause I can drink ( I've never drank beer- yuck hate hops) but I USE to drink carbonated fruity drinks- Now that I don't do fizzy I do mainly frozen Rita's and fufu drinks.
Paul lol I'm a cheap drunk too!
Hubby and I can go out to have 1 Rita and I'll be toasted and he'll be buzzed lol Since the Rita's are 1.99 happy hours lol it's prrrrrfect for me :)
Paula,
I'm wanting to know about you because I get super tight with stress-Kids-School-etc
I'll take a shot of cordial (Homemade I must add!) and it calms my nerves thus I can eat.
I know better from horror stories not to eat food while drinking frozen drinks!

You know, it's funny you bring this up. When I first start drinking, I get a golfball feeling, even when I haven't eaten anything in several hours.
I wonder if its because of the alcohol + the cold that causes things to shrink like George Costanza in a swimming pool.
(any Seinfeld fans out there? "I was in the pool! I was in the pool!")
Probably due to cold shrinkage (poor George!!!LOL).
I had a little bit of a martini the other day and I felt it like a ton of bricks. I never was a cheap date but I guess I am now. I don't want a PB chaser with my drink so after I get filled I probably won't indulge very much.

But Ive had many cold drinks before....
maybe its the acidic ingredients that alcohol contains - that irritates my stomach?
hmmm..
anyway, Im not liking this side-effect. I used to LOVE having a drink or two and feeling relaxed.

I am very curious about this also. I haven't had any alcohols since December 16, 2005 (company x-mas party). I since quit drinking because that night, in front of all my bosses and co-workers, we were all piled in a car and I fell out of it when it stopped in the parking lot to the convention center. I'm the only one I know who broke their elbow when falling from a PARKED car. The following Tuesday, my boss made me stand up (arm casted and everything) and give the safety topic on safe driving/riding. So embarassing. I do plan on maybe having my first drink at this years x-mas party though. We will have to see. I didn't know what drinking with the band would do to me.

maybe I spoke too soon.
I had a beer and a half at a party this weekend, and it made me nauseaus. Not necessarily a band thing, but sick to my stomach.
It was cheap beer. Normally I have Guiness, but at this thing they had Bud and Miller light... not my faves.
Sheesh.

Maybe you could try a hot toddy and see if it does the same thing?
Tea, honey and a brown liquor
Or my favorite, hot chocolate and pepperment schnapps. yum
I did try a Wallybee darned from outback steakhouse. (i hate that place, dont know why i even bother to go) It made my stomach hurt, but I forgot when I ordered it that it had champainge in it.
