My sister also wants the surgery and my mother is willing to pay as long as she quits smoking for atleast one month. She hasnt been able to do it yet. But I know most/all surgeons want you to quit before surgery, I believe it affects your blood suply with anesthesia(sp?) and how u recover. I know Kathy has quit smoking recently. You can find her "Smoking Stinks" thread. I hope others have advise for you too...I know its a hard habit to qiut! Good luck!

Idahobeauty had to quit for surgery as well. Luckily, I had quit a few years prior. It's never an easy thing to do, but the rewards are awesome and the band is SO worth the sacrafice!

You can do it!

Vickie, you too? I knew Drews quit, we ROCK!

moonlight, you can do it. It's sooo worth it. No more stinking, no more ball and chain to ciggies. It's wonderful, and hard! I used the Patches. They really helped, but these cold turkey chicks have quit in a much mroe lady-like manner than I have. I'm still fussing over it all. EK is right, it's called "Smoking Stinks" and it's all there. Click on my screen name and in my profile you'll see "find all threads started by kathy" and you'll get a list and see the Smoking Stinks one. Loads of great advice and support and encouragement. Go for it! Be free!!!!

Best of luck to you moonlight!!! I know you can do this!
My cousin was telling me about a prescription pill that she took to quit. It doesn't have any nicotine in it.
