Hi Laurel, it's great to hear from you. I assume you had some lap band issues? If you would care to share I know it always helps others to learn about our own experiences....and YES of course you can get support no matter what - any time. Keep posting and let us know about this new journey of yours. I imagine it doesn't feel all that different from being banded as far as eating goes?

oh its MUCH different than the lapband. i have to FORCE myself to eat. and i loose much quicker. 26lbs in 2 weeks :) ive had a few complucations though. pneumonia and a liquid abcess in my abdomen. im home with an IV that goes all the way to my heart. it will feed me antibiotics for the next 3 days but i still dont regret doing this. i lost my "sweet spot" with my band after a yr. my doctor doesnt even recommend the band to ppl nemore cuz so many have ended up converting. i have nothing against it. rny was just a better choice for me.

I am getting a fill tomorrow for the first time in 18 months. Long story, but bottom line is my doctor left me high and dry and wouldn't give me my records so I had to file a complaint with the medical board to get them. I am now seeing a doc at an actual bariatric clinic and have decided to give my band 6 months of true effort to get back on track. If I'm not able to do it, I'm converting to RNY.
My new doc doesn't recommend lap band anymore either. They still do it but recommend RNY and the sleeve.
I'm sorry to hear about your complications, I hope your recovery is speedy.
Thanks for sharing your story,
Nicole

The best of luck to you on your newer journey to a healthy you. I too had my band removed due to complications but did not convert to a different
process. I still struggle with my weight. I am also insulin resistant so that doesnt help me.
I really just wanted to say the best of luck to you!!

I can honestly tell you that the MAJORITY of banded folks still have their bands - I'm 5 years out and have had lots of challenges but my band is just fine. It's good we know what others have gone through just in case we find ourselves in a less than ideal situation. Better prepared than scared I always say lol
