I have been on this and it has my metabolism going like crazy!! and I feel like I am literally eating all day long. It is pretty easy to follow, and very easy to customize to your situation.

Basically you want to figure out what your target daily intake is. then divide that by 6. you should have a range. For instance, my range is 100 to 150 calories per mini meal. I can eat anything that makes up these calories, but i never go over, and I really never go under.

I eat every 2 hours. With my eating slowly sometimes I finish eating only to find that it is almost time for me to eat another 100-150 calories. Its nice and I rarely feel hungry. Between each meal i ONLY drink water. Nothing with calories. and I count EVERY SINGLE CALORIE!!

Now since I can eat anything that adds up to 100 calories I am really left with just about any choice. I can have something sweet, but i must stick to the calorie mark. I can't have 400 cals one meal, then back off the rest of the day. With this you are basically tricking your body into thinking that you are going to continue getting these calories in for the rest of your life, so it starts burning off the excess fat it is keeping for storage. If you drop below 100 calories your body will go into starvation mode.

Here is an example of what I ate today:

8am: large apple, cup of coffee
(took a long nap because i never went to bed lat night)
12pm: 3 chicken wings
2pm: 10 oz 2% milk (it tasted so good i couldn't stop!!)
4pm: 4oz cottage cheese
6pm: 6oz of corn chowder
8pm: vanilla yogurt

I also got in a little over a gallon of water.

I hope this is understandable. I am still a little tired. :) but it really is a great diet, an it is really easy to do with the band!

6 meals per day is the only way to get your metabolism really strong. I have been doing this for 4 months. It works! Trust me it works!

I kinda sorta do this.

I have 5 "meals" a day. They typically go 200, 300, 200, 300, 200 - as my projected calories a day are at 1200. I'm not really stringent about it, but I do keep pretty good track in my head. I know some days I'm under 1200, and occasionally I'm over but not often. Pre-packaged stuff certainly helps when you're trying to keep track in your already-overstuffed brain.

Breakfast: 200 calorie protein bar.
11am (or so): 100 calorie snack, yogurt, snack protein bar
2pm: yogurt or jello or pudding, veggies or fruit
5:30pm (dinner!): fish, chicken, pasta 300~ calories
7pm: 200 calories of popcorn, snacks, etc

I'm not a big vegetable eater, so I do have a lot of fruit and dairy (mmm yogurt).

I'm at about a gallon or so of water a day now as well, due to some teeth issues recently.

This is working well for me, and actually put the scale in motion again for more than .5 pounds every 2 weeks, where I was two months ago.

There are several people here in our office trying the 3 hour diet. They seem to be doing well and I have tried it...so far so good. It's hard to remember to eat all those times. I have actually had to start writing down when I eat. Go figure I am forgetting to eat. :biggrin1: Who would've thought.

Kim that is the tough thing for me too. sometimes I forget, or something is going on an I forget to eat or just can't. But I try to stick to it as much as possible.

When I was in getting my fill today the doctor (who is not my surgeon, just the doc fill centers USA sent me to) reprimande me for eating so often during the day. "You aren't a bypass patient, you don't need to eat that often!!" Pardon me, but my surgeon is ok with it, and it has proven itself to keep the metabolism high. the key is to eat a LITTLE each time. Its not like I am sitting down to 4 courses 6 times a day.

I feel drunk so bare with me... LOL! You eat what you want every 2 hours, I know not WHATEVER, but something?

Hi mescudero, yep. Eating something balanced every 2-3 hours revs up your metabolism and evens out your blood sugar. After a while it keeps your body burning fuel all day long. I follow Eating For Life by Bill Phillips. I really believe in it.

I actually allow myself to eat WHATEVER I want. Most of the time it is balanced, but I have chosen 100 cals of m&ms or a few forks of cake at my daughter's birthday. At that low amount you get what you are craving, but you don't get the massive sugar spikes from it. I find that since it is so little of what i crave, and i am usually really hungry lately i just go with the more healthy alternative cause i know it will fill me up better.

vicky it sounds like you are great! what advice are you seeking? is there a problem that you are exp? the only thing i see that might consern me is that you need to be getting more protein in your diet. if you can not get more food than that down then maybe add some spoonfulls of protein powder to your shake in the morning and to your water you drink through the day. the flavorless kind. i worry that you are not getting enough and that can cause issues with your hair, skin, and blood and muscles.

I did not mention that I am using the soy protien from GNC no taste but I use it in everything that I cook. But the reason why I ask is because my DH was banded as well and he can eat 6 meals a day that is what our Nutrionist wants us to do but I am always full especially with all the water I drink. We change the water bubbler every other day in my office and there is only 4 of us and prior to me being banded we changed it once a week. Everyone is telling me to cut out the water so I can eat but I find myself always thirsty than hungry... Dpes anyone else have the same problem?

I guess Funny the advice I am seeking is Am i drinking to much water? If I cut down the water do you think I could eat more? I have about 16 glasses (the 16 oz drink cups) just at work. And them when I come home I cant count cause the dh and I share our water.....

as long as you are getting in the recommended amount of protein, and are losing weight, i think you are fine. you do not HAVE to eat more than you are unless you are just not getting what you need. If your DH can eat more than you, then it is just a simple situation of your restriction being ifferent. I ef do NOT think you should cut down on the water. Water is key. you must drink as much as possible.

just make sure you take your chewable vitamins, your calcium, and are getting at least 60g of protein a day. the closer to 100 the better. if you can do this with protein powder then i say you are good to go, and are doing a FANTASTIC job on your weight loss! I hope to be where you are in that short a time.

Thank you Funny for the compliment. You will get there. Patience is the key believe me I learned the hard way. IAfter i got the band I was not happy with the weight lose because everyone kept asking me and when I told them they said thats it well so and so lost this much and they had the gastric bypass. When I first had this surgery I wished I got the Gastric done. but now I wouldnt do it even if I was paid a million $$$$$$$$. Well let me rethink that

I get frustrated with my loss because of how the bypass patients do, but i am so glad I am not in their shoes. there are too many problems that come with that sort of surgery and their weight loss. I would rather lose due to healthy eating and not due to malnourishment.

I think Funny is right. You are doing very well . You lost 81lb in 5mon. I just wish I could lose 50 in that time. and I eat 4-5 times per day.
