My little girl work up last night with the stomach virus. I know how important it is to not vomit...so how do you cope w/ stomach illness in your house? I have been bleaching and lysoling, but that was after the fact. I am a little worried.

AWWW... sorry to hear about your daughter. I think you are doing a great job. I would also recommend getting your Dr. to call in a med that would stop you from vomiting if you became ill. I don't remember the name of it but you could call and ask.

I'm sorry your little girl is sick. Sounds like you are taking good care of her.
When I visited my surgeon for pre-op, I asked him about getting sick - specifically vomiting. He didn't seem overly concerned. He just said, well, you will just throw up. It's not the same as constantly PB'ing. You won't be doing it for very long.

I currently throw up daily due to morning sickness. It sucks - but I live. I have Zofran as a back up plan, but it only works part of the time. The idea is to try not to puke, but to know you should be fine if it does happen.
You can ask your doc for Phenergen and or Zofran as a little safety net. Phenergen makes me more sick to my stomach however, and it also tends to make me very sleepy. Zofran melt tabs are a god send on my worst of the worst days.
Good luck to you!

Argh, dont you hate that? By the time you realise they are sick, ie. they've puked, you've been kissing and cuddling them and wiping their bums and whatever else you do for little kids for days whilst they were at their most contagious.
We've had no less than five bouts of gastro over the past year, its been insane in Melbourne for gastro lately. The first came 3 days after my surgery, I took a prescription anti emetic and I did get sick, but didnt get the nausea and vomiting, just chills and fevers, the sick headache etc. Since then I havent caught it, which is amazing because its so contagious. Gloves for EVERYTHING, dont touch the washing, dont clean up without gloves, dont do anything to do with bodily fluids without gloves. That and bleaching everything not nailed down, constantly spraying the taps and doorhandles couches, beds, everything with disinfectant spray and being hyper hyper aware of not eating or even touching my face without washing my hands.
And dont touch the gloves and forget to wash your hands! Its pointless wearing them if you then put your hands all over their outer surface when taking them on or putting them off. I used disposable ones.
I am deathly deathly afraid of stomach bugs. I can cope with anything but that. Thankfully most of the time if I get them I dont vomit, it goes straight to the other end.

How's your little one doing Reblynd? I can sure sympathize. Our 3yo grandson has the flu and has been throwing up. This came on the day after he spent the day with Grandma -- who let him eat Goldfish crackers, cheese sticks and sugarfree popsicles all day long eeep! I thought it was all my fault but my daughter told me he has a fever too, so its the flu. Ironically, our new dog was puking all day yesterday as well. *shakes her head* It's that time of year again.

Hey pnut. she is not doing well, but thanks for asking. She,thank goodness is not throwing up anymore, but she has a very high temp. She can't stay awake for more than an hour. That dreaded stomach bug is nasty...but this flu Emma has is just terrible. Hope you stay in the clesr..take care.
