I'm baacckk!
In 2006, I started the process to get a lapband. The hospital in Savannah was just starting the program and was not accredited to operate on someone with a BMI as high as mine. So, I did the psych test, sleeping test, weekly weigh-ins, etc. I also found B2G and started following a pre-lapband diet and exercise program. I lost 100 lbs. When I finally reached the approved BMI, the hospital said I had achieved what a band could do for me, plus my heart was not good enough for surgery.
I kept the weight off for two years, than went back into emotional eating. A bad relationship and not getting approved for knee replacement will do that to you.
This past fall, I had a near-death experience. I spent 3 weeks in a hospital hooked up to an IV of antibiotics 24/7. Unfortunately, I was allergic to the second antibiotic they tried, which almost killed me faster than the original infection. BUT I was finally released to go home.
I have sitters at night, since my energy drains during the day and by 6pm, my balance is questionable. That's physical balance NOT mental. No comments from peanut gallery. I lost most of my hair and skin because of the drug allergy. Both are slowly recovering. Trust me, I was a sight in November.
BUT I feel reborn in January and ready to take control of my body again. I'm about where I started in 2006. At that time I was 450 and got down to 343. This time I am starting at 423.
For those new to B2G, this is a great support group no matter if you are banded or not. The weight loss information works for all. The motivation to follow the protein diet and exercise program is the best. We have all had reasons to get into our shape, so we all understand and can give loving and positive support.
Though I have been away from the forum, I have stayed in touch through Facebook with many of you.
Here's to making 2011 our best year.
