I had my first fill last Friday - 4ml into my 14ml AP band. No fluoro, just lie flat on the table and lift legs straight up in the air when given the cue (to tighten the muscles under the port). The needle stung a bit, but other than that it was over in two seconds, and couldn't feel anything else.
The surgeon said that these large AP bands like mine are so big that any less for a first fill wouldn't do anything, and that I may not feel any different even with a 4ml fill!
Anyway, I can definitely feel it. I felt like I had a lower appetite post surgery anyway - about 70% - 85% of what it was pre-surgery. Now with the fill I think I am down to about 50% - 65% of my pre-surgery appetite. It will be interesting to see how this changes with time.
I can still eat anything (that I've tried so far), even a small amount of bread, just a lot less of it, a lot slower and a lot more chewed up than before. However, I am ashamed to admit that I accidentally got stuck on a couple of things already, so I am REALLY learning now what it means to have to eat like a lapbander! Geez, I thought I had been eating like a lapbander already - but NOOOOOO, obviously not!
Let the renovations begin!!!
