Diet right after band removal?

Hey all of you bandless and ex-bandees!
I'm getting my band out Tuesday. I know after getting your band put in or repaired it is 2 weeks of liquids. What about removal? Will I be on liquids for 2 weeks due to swelling?
Any insight ia greatly appreciated!

Sorry I can't answer your question, but I did want to say thanks for posting. I am having my band removed at the end of December.

Your Dr. will give you a diet to follow... depends on your situation and condition. Sorry to hear ... I too had my band removed and I hate it!

Lisa- it actually has been okay so far painwise. Though where the port was....uncomfortable in there to say the least! Why are you getting yours removed?

I'd say they'll advance you carefully for a couple of days. I've just had a temporary ileostomy performed and an rectal/bowel resection and they had me on solid foods within 3 days, so I'd say band removal wont be any stricter than that.

I'tll no doubt be a case of suck it and see - you'll be guided by your surgeon and by your appetite and how you feel.

Jahut, sorry to hear about your surgery. Was any of this caused by having the band? I've always admired how well you've done with it. I have struggled with maintenance. It's amazing how little you need to eat in order to lose. I exercise moderately. I too don't want a too tight band. Been there - not healthy at all!
