Hi everyone! It's been quite a while since I have posted here, but I have been out living life and enjoying my new figure; I'm down 143 lbs since December 17, 2008! This is the smallest I have ever been in my entire adult life and I am so happy. I still am roughly 25 lbs from goal, but the last 25 lbs don't want to budge (and, quite frankly, I don't think I have 25 more lbs on me to lose - awesome thing!) :thumb:

Yesterday I went for a PS consult for a tummy tuck and thigh lift. The TT cost was estimated at $10,000 and the TL was a bit over $6,000. Does anyone know of if banking institutions give out personal loans for things like this? There is financing through my PS's office, but the interest rate varies from 14-24% APR - I have great credit and should be able to get something quite a bit better. Any advice? I am a server at a local bar and the money is a huge issue for me. Thank you all!

Perhaps you can take out a personal loan through your bank?

Banks do give personal lines of credit for things. I would start with where you bank. If your credit is good you might do a regular credit card with a low introductory rate. Also you should check with your insurance. Sometimes if the excess skin is causing dermatology problems, (i.e. rash/skin irritation from skin rubbing together too much they will deem it medically necessary to remove the skin for you. You can add any extras into that surgery and assume the extra costs but bigger stuff like anesthesia and admittance and all that would be covered. I am getting banded on Monday and the insurance is also letting me get tubal ligation at the same time , since I am already there. You could begin a history of complaints with your doctors. Oftentimes your PS can ask your insurance to cover it as a medical neccessity. These guys have staff who work to get approval for you. Or consider a "Medi-cation" to some other country that excels at PS, like Brazil. Often the prices are half and you get to go somewhere fun and recover in the sun.
