Ok, I know this is gross but here it goes. I had surgery 12 days ago and ever since then I have had terrible gas. I mean wake you up at night gas. I have not been eating unusual amounts of fiber or anything like that. I am still on mushies. I just can't get rid of this! Not bad odor wise but just annoying to have to do this like every half hour 24 hours a day. Any suggestions?

I know how you feel Idaho...but you know what, better out than in! Kinda gross I know, but it is better than gas pains!! Have you tried gas-x?

No, I have not tried it but I think I am goin to head to the store right now and get some! I just can't take this anymore. At first it was kind of a relief but now it is just annoying.

Better in than out, for sure! Embrace the toots, Idaho. And get some gas-x, too! It gets better. I'll bet you hear that alot lately, but it does! :D

LOl.. Kathy, I could just see you saying that! I did get some gas x last night and it has helped tremendously. I swear this is terrible! I have never had so much gas in my life! Thanks for the encouragement. I keep thinking about how much better I feel today than I did right after surgery. It is amazing how quickly you progress even when it seems like it takes forever.

Hi All,
I could really use some support!! I was banded on 11-30-06 and am still having significant pain in one of the incision sites. I find it difficullt to sleep cause I can't get comfortable sleeping on my back but forget trying to roll over or sleep on my side, which is the way I normally sleep. When I do try I feel like this incision is pulling open. I have a feeling this spot may be where the port is, it's about 4 inches under my breasts. It is the biggest incision also. The other question I have is rather gross but here goes. I haven't pooped since the day before my surgery, which would be 5 days now. Is this normal, I mean I know I am only drinking clear liquids at this point but what has your experience been, if you don't mind me asking??
I would alove to hear about others experiences for the first week after banding. Is what am experiencing normal??

Thanks,
Hope

Hope, get you some Milk of Magnesia. Sip a few tablespoons of that. I wish I had done that. I was constipated, too. Oh, and Aloe Vera juice is good for digestion in general. It's good for everything from top to bottom. :)

Sounds like your port incision. Be very careful with that one. You don't want infection. If it's red, hot to the touch, and "past bothersome" sore...if it really hurts...call your doc. For now, it will be tender. That port has been stitched into the underside of your abdomen and it WILL be more sore. And know that the port is not directly beneath the incision line, but a few inches near it. You might be able to feel it in the next few weeks. Be nice to it. If needed, sleep in the recliner.

I was able to sleep on my side...my right side...port is on my left...if I put a pillow in front of me and hugged it while sleeping. Pillow up. I put one between my legs too, a habit I started years ago when pregnent. If you can't do this yet, hang in there, you will! I sometimes still have a hard time sleeping on my left. That port just twists funny, I don't know, but right side sleeping has always been comfier for me, so it worked out well.

Good luck, I hope this reply helps, maybe others will chime in, too! Welcome to b2g!

Hope,

I would try re-posting what you just said in a new thread. I'm not trying to sound like a know it all, but maybe more people will see it and be able to help you out better.

Maybe you could title it "Is This Normal?" Hopefully someone can give you some advice.

Ooops. I apologize. Kathy got in there with a good answer before I got my response posted. Hopefully that helps you out some.

Kathy and Tattooedsuess, thanks for the reply! I am new to this forum and am unsure how to actually navigate the system but I sooo much appreciate your help. I will definetly get some milk of magnesia tomorrow.
I am excited about finally being banded but a little neurotic about having complications. I thought long and hard about actually doing it and this forum helped alot. I've read many of each of your posts and have found them to be helpful and supportive.
Thanks again, and next time I post I will do a new thread.
