Has anyone tried the faux honey products that have almost no sugar? I saw one at the store yesterday but at $4+ I wanted to ask opinions.

Also, what about no sugar maple syrup breakfast syrup products?

AnneMarie, I've never heard of the faux honey.... So sorry I can't help you there. As fr the no sugar maple syrup.... I can't eat anything that would require that to be on it. I can't eat pancakes/waffles, toast or most bread products. So... again, I can't help your there.

I got the sugar free syrup to use in recipes, on oatmeal and pureed hot cereals/grits/crm of wheat and maybe on Greek yogurt.

I'm a Yankee who likes grits. But I eat the grits like Yankee with a bit of butter product and maple syrup. My poor Southern friends just shake their heads at me. lol. Plus I have a recipe for pureed french toast I can start to have on Sat. 2/27/10.

I want honey on my Greek yogurt so I'm going to buy it this weekend on my shopping trip for pureed food items.

My husband is diabetic and uses Cary's sugar free maple syrup found in any grocery store. I actually have never liked syrup in my life but find I do like the taste of the Cary's. I will use occasionally but still prefer jelly on things most people put syrup on. (LOL don't eat those things now).

I almost bought Carys and went with another brand. I'm glad to know Cary's is good. I chose the other brand because it listed Splenda on the label.

Cary's is good. And the Mrs. Butterworth's sugar free is good also for regular syrup flavor.

Hungry Jack makes a Sugar Free (w/ Splenda) that you can heat in the bottle. YUM!

Am I the oddball on here that can & does eat pancakes? I can eat one & I make it with the Fiber One mix. I use some fruit or the above mentioned syrup...

NOTE- Many sugar free syrups and candy contain large amounts of maltitol syrup. Maltitol gets its sweetness from sugar alcohols that are lower in calorie. The problem is, they have a pretty powerful laxative effect when eaten in moderate to larger quantities, so BEWARE! Look at the label...or you may be spending a lot of time in the bathroom.

i buy the faux sugar free honey for my kids. they use it instead of jelly.(toast, pb&J ect. ) and they love it! i cant eat bread, so i have nothing to put the honey on. :)
wait i take that back, i made some chicken thighs in a sauce that required honey, and i used that. and i have used it on sweet potatoes as a garnish with a pad of butter. tastes like honey to me. and heres that recipe in case anyone wants it. i try to think ahead. :)

i used thighs instead, and my whole family loved it.
i also topped with sesame seeds.

THanks for the advice about malitol.

I think I will get the honey product now. I want it for candied pureed carrots and on Greek yogurt.

I bought the honey product. It's called HoneyTree's Sugar Free Imitation Honey

www.honeytreehoney.com

I like it. It's very close to honey. I'm happy with it. Have tried it off the spoon but plan to use a tad bit of it in Greek Yogurt.

They have this too, it's a corn syrup alternative.

One more thing to add. It's NOT calorie free though. So definitely a treat or a additive to a special recipe.

Call me crazy but I will not eat anything that is labeled sugar free or diet. That crap cannot be good for your body. You ever try going a week without eating any of that stuff? You should try it and see how much better you feel. Anyway Im just not gonna do it. Ever wonder why America has more heart , lung , disease, cancer and many others? I cant prove it but I bet you money its because of our food choices. My wife eat fresh meats and fish and vegtables all of her life. Stuff with no by products or additives or raised using homone stuff and her docter here is just amazed with her blood work and overall general health. Said she has the health of a small child ---whatever that means. Anyway Im just trying to eat for health ----key word is trying!

I have a plastic band around my stomach. I think I passed the natural stage long ago.
