Horrible pain

I had surgery yesterday and found out they had to repair a hiatal hernia. I anticipated gas pain in my shoulders but what is this pain just below my diaphram. Is it maybe from the hernia repair? OMG it hurts to breathe.

I had a hernia repaired when I had to have my slipped band replaced. It was VERY painful..and the pain was NOT there when I had my origianl band placed. Hang in there..it gets better!!!

I had a hernia repaired and had no pain. I would say gas, gas, gas.

The beauty of this surgical procedure is that everything will be forgotten is just a few days. You are perfectly normal after what you have been through, just be patient and let your body heal, even though it does feel uncomfortable. Why do I say that? Well, they had me under for 4 hours to repair my hernia. And here I am today just loving my band and my new life, even though I still have a ways to go.

Well today I am doing much better! I still don't feel hungry but I'm sure that will change soon enough. I go on wednesday to get the staples removed. Wish me luck.

I'm still having a lot of pain in the same area of the chest but other than that the other pain is gone

Supergirl, I had my lapband surgery on Friday, Jan 15, 2010 and I also had a significantly sized hernia repair done. I can atest to the pain and discomfort you are feeling. It hurt to breathe and it was a combination of gas and the hernia repair itself. It hurt to swallow water! Today, 5 days after surgery, I am feeling much better and for the first time the discomfort is to a minimum. I have my one week post op appt. on Friday to remove the staples...

Hi!! Im new here..how was the original band surgery? Did u do it laparoscopically? Im 18 years old and I'm considering having it done..I have over 100lbs to loose!!!!

The surgery wasn't bad all in all. I had the staples out today and I am feeling better. The doc said the pain was caused from irritation of the diaphragm by the gas. That put me at ease.
