Dear NC Group,
I just found you here from another board thanks to Dianne. By way of introductions:
-- I have a personal relationship and love for Jesus by Lord and then my wonderful husband for 33 years.
-- I am a retired engineer; now web-developer and wife of an associate pastor
-- I live between Greensboro and Burlington
-- 1st banded 4/29/04 at Duke WLS Center by Dr. McMahon (no longer there; now Dr. DeMaria)
-- 2nd surgery 6/30/05 to repair tube-hernia by Dr. McMahon
-- at 30 months after surgery, on 11/8/06 I was diagnosed with 100% leak in the band (not tube or port); NOT related to slipage or errosion (praise the Lord cause I can have it replaced...amen!)
-- I have already gained back +10 lbs so I am going crazy and back into mode of traditional dieting while I await the process to get my wonderful band replaced.

So, as you can see I'm in need of support

Hi everybody, I am new to both the band and the online support. I had my band on July 4 of this year in Mexico city. The first fill was good and without a problem, but it wasn't tight enough. My second fill was on November 10 and since then I have been having back aches and tenderness in the esophagus. The Dr. says it is because I have been over eating and that it should pass. I am scare and have been without eating since yesterday as eating cause me pain. I know you have more experience and I would like to know you to get some insight.
I live in Cornelius with my husband and my 4 year old girl.
Thank you.

Hi Damirra and welcome. I hope you will join us at our next get together.

Have you tried liquids. You need to get your protien in and let your esophagus heal right now. You need at least 60 grams of protien again. I know it is recommended to go on liquids to help heal your esophagus. I over ate only once a few weeks ago and stayed on liwuids for 2 days and then mushies for a few days after that. You don't want to make things worse for yourself. Be careful..If you can't get anything down you need to notify your Dr at once.

Hey damirra! Welcome to b2g! Gosh, you live nearby! I'm near Denver.

Anyway, I agree with Dianne, stick with liquids and very soft mushies till things settle down. Aloe Vera juice is great for a sore esophagus and swollen band area. Are you taking any acid reducers? You may be a tad too tight, but if you are eating too much/too fast after this last fill, you may just need to give your band a rest with a super soft diet till the swelling goes down, than start over with eating regular foods.

Are you going to MX for your fills? Do you have a local doc? I'll PM you with the link to this thread incase you are lost...you said you are new to online support and I want you to make it back here!

:flypig: Great NEWS . . . .

I have an appointment with Dr. Voellinger in January. Because of the goodness of the Lord and out of the thoughtfulness of Dr. V's sweet BAMA heart, and tons of thanks to my new BEST friend Kim, I am going to have a good Christmas after all.

Oh my, with the confirmation of this appointment, I got my Christmas early. I promise, this was all I had ask for. Oh I just can't get a grip . . . it's just the best news and I had to share it!!!! Thank-you oh Lord cause I NEEDED this opportunity.

I don't know what the outcome might bring, but it's my hope that I will hear at this appointment that I can have the replacement surgery and that my UHC will again pay for it. Can I ask for some of you b2G Prayer Wariors to join me in this special request? Thank-you :grouphug:
