Hi Joe... well I have a 2 pairs of shoes called Saucony's. I got them at a regular shoe store here in Michigan. These shoes were designed by a podiatrist. The guy that started this company went to his podiatrist and asked him to design a pair of shoes he would like his patients to wear. He designed these shoes with wide toes and the heel doesn't ride up and down with a proper fit, and I put them on and immediately went shopping around town, then the next day I wore them all day shopping in Shipsewanna IN. They're very comfortable, my feet are wide at the toes (kind of like Fred Flintstone feet..lol). They're a little over $100 but well worth it in my opinion. I'm not sure if there is a website, but I could google it I'm sure to see if there is one. Hope this helps.

P.S. Here is a site for the shoes http://www.saucony.com/store/SiteController/saucony/home?CHOSEN_REGION=en_US?kwid=G_saucony_shoes

I would suggest that you go to a specialist running store. They are trained to get you a proper fit and they stock a wide range of high quality running shoes. They will be a little more pricey that somewhere like Dick's or other run of the mill sports stores, but the extra support they give is well worth it. Considering that they last at least for 350 - 400 miles, unless you suddenly start training for a full marathon, you should get a long life from them. I bought some last spring and immediately noticed the difference, and I am only jogging for increased fitness. They are also designed to reduce the wear and tear on joints that incorrect shoes can cause.

do you have a Fleet Feet store nearby??
They are awesome....they do the custom fit for free....it takes about 45 minutes because they measure your feet several times and watch you walk in each shoe.

I personally love Ascis Gel shoes.

I like Patrick's suggestion. If there is a specialty running store, go and check them out. We have an excellent one in this area and surprisingly, the shoes aren't that much more expensive.

I went because I have had issues with the ball of my foot. They helped me find a pair that helped, as well as realllly cushioned socks to provide more padding.

Good luck!

Do you know if any of these, or can you suggest some, that are good for people with balance issues? I have two fused joints on one foot and along with B12 deficiency, have some fairly serious balance issues.

This is the place I went - - of course, they are about 15-20 miles from me! But you might email them and see if they can recommend something:

You should be fitted for your shoes.. it is a good idea 2 buy 2 pairs at a time and rotate them daily.. Also make sure you get a dry weave socks to avoid blisters..

That's what I did Pattie.. I had my shoes fitted to my foot. They measured both length and width, and also suggested the socks that let your feet breathe. I am so happy with these shoes.. I've never been able to buy a pair of shoes off the rack and fit right.

I have found that my feet have lost weight too...I am down almost a whole size in each foot. Just something to keep in mind!
