We're going on a vacation in a few weeks to a resort that offers scuba diving. Anyone know whether this is OK to do with a band?

I do not scuba, only snorkel, but my partners sister (they were banded together) does both scuba and snuba with no problems. In fact they just spent the weekend with me in Key West just to go diving (unfortunately 7 - 12 ft swells took care of that idea!). When we were all in Mexico she asked her doc, (Zapata) if diving was ok - he stated that the band would have no effect.

I hope this helps, so go enjoy you vacation!!

Hey Gadgetlady :)

Wheetsin scubas. You might ask her how she's done with it.
Yup, she's "over there" but I'm sure she'd have some great advice for you.

Where are you going on your vacation? Have you ever scuba'd before? I don't think I'd have the guts. Deep, dark water scares the buhjeebies outta me! *shudders*

Let us know what you find out ok? The info would be great to share!

*hugs*

Thanks for the info, Debbie and Susan. I tried posting "over there" but got crickets. I did a web search last night and it seems there are no issues with scuba diving at all.

We're headed for Turks & Caicos, the all-inclusive Beaches resort. I wish I had lost a bit more weight before we went :-( but so be it. I have scuba'd before, on a club dive many years ago in Mexico. It is absolutely amazing. I wouldn't ever go very far down or anywhere other than tropical, so it's neither deep nor dark! It really is amazing -- you should try it sometime.

How fun! And if the water were light and fairly shallow, like youre describing, I think I could handle that. I bet you see some beautiful stuff. Have a wonderful time!

Hey Gadget. I checked out the thread because learning to scuba dive is one of my goals once I lose more weight. Saw you're going to Turks & Caicos. I went a couple years ago... It is the most beautiful water I've ever seen! Have a blast. Kelli

Thanks, Kelli. I'm really looking forward to it. I dove once before when I was skinny, and then I took a full certification course but never finished it. It's been about 12 years since I've attempted to dive, but I think T&C is the perfect place to try.
