I have been trying for three days to post something that would sum up my feelings about the weekend, and I've decided that it's impossible. So I'll just ramble and see what happens.
My heart is so full. My head is jam-packed with treasured memories shared by so many of you. I am feeling overwhelmed with humble gratitude and thankfulness. I was blessed beyond description by the generous hearts of such wonderful people. So many friendships grew even deeper. I met people that I instantly fell in love with. Old friendships were renewed. I saw hope sparking in people's eyes. I saw determination. I saw those who thought they were alone become part of our family. I saw light bulbs coming on over people's heads. I saw tears of regret, and tears of love.
In a couple of private moments, I met a new friend who showed me what it truly means to be brave enough to embrace life and live it to the fullest. Thank you, V. You touched my heart in a big way.
I shared blueberry pancakes with a woman I've "known" all my life but had never met. She has become one of my dearest friends and I'm convinced that she will forever be a huge part of my life. Love you, Lou.
I hugged so many of my sisters. (gonna cry now) I love each of you so much. Thank you for all you did to get here. I know what each of you sacrificed to be here. Thank you for sharing your hearts with me. I feel so privileged to have your love and trust. As I write this, each of your smiling faces are flashing before my eyes. I can see your smiles, hear your laughs, see the love in your eyes. Thank you, from deep within my heart, for your encouragement, your trust, your love, and for being who you are. Each of you holds a special spot in my heart, and always will.
I ran. A lot. And I didn't get out of breath. I ran wearing tennis shoes. I ran wearing boots. I ran because I was in a hurry and didn't stop to think. I was blown away by that.
I saw Dawg stand in front of a huge room full of people, with a microphone in his hand, and I watched him speak from his heart. Unrehearsed. He was awesome and I'm so proud of him.
I saw Carla and Sara constantly moving through the crowds as they tended to the little details so critical to the success of the weekend. They made me look good and I thank them both.
I ate great food, and lost a pound! :rockon:
Time and again I was awestruck by the gathering of so many faces that I have loved for years and only met this past weekend. It was a honor to be with you all, to have you in my home, to share meals with you, to toast a drink with you, to laugh with you, to workout with you, and to cry with you. You are with out a doubt the most wonderful group of friends anyone could ever hope to have.
I'm sure there will be more to write about as thoughts settle in my poor tired brain, but that's a good start.
Oh, yes... I'm glad you all enjoyed the 5am wake up call on Sunday morning. I just wanna know why so many of you went back to bed and didn't come to the Wake Up and Move class! Lazy bums. *smiles*
Thank you, everyone, for making this past weekend one of the most memorable weekends of my life. Sincerely.

WOW!! Susan being a newbie to all of this I had no idea how far this band can take you till I attended the conference. Its not only about the gift inside each one of us but the gift of friendship and not being alone in this. Gee, I couldn't believe there were so many people out there just like me struggling and succeeding. You are an amazing woman and I thank you for putting this on. I know I have been given a gift and I want to cherish that gift by learning how it works to benefit me. I want to be there for my new friends in need and get as much of them to the support groups as possible. I am doing this for me because for once I feel I am worth it!! Thank from the bottom of my heart...(now I'm tearing up) Hugs
Patrick

Susan, you have done it again. I know that all who attended were richly blessed, but do not forget that their testimonies are reaching out to all who were not able to be there and the ever increasing influence is never ending. Thank you to all who have shared not only what they have learned, but what they experienced. It does mean a lot to everyone.
Susan.... I am in tears!!! You are so wonderful... thank you once again... We are so blessed to have you in our lives!! Love you lots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now we know who streaked through the hallway and pulled that fire alarm.... a dirty trick to get us out of bed and to the workout.... after all we were already awake right?!! I almost fell for it, but since I didn't go to bed until 4 a.m. I easily went back to sleep...
The conference was the best... well done!

Tonya - Posts like yours are my rewards. Thank you, sweetie.
Patrick - It's really odd but this year has taken longer to process. I'm sure that as brains rest a bit and sort thru the tons of information and events, more people will begin to share the weekend from their perspective. I hope to have some videos to share as well. It's not the same as being there, as you know, but yes... definitely valuable to all!
Angela - The feeling is mutual, my dear sweet friend. :sun_smiley:
Jeralin - You shoulda just stayed up! LOL!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I told you all I'd think of more to say.. here goes.
To SheryBery (Cheryl) who donated her entire day and night to helping me on Thursday, driving people to and from the airport, hotel, and my house AND for making runs to the grocery store (I think I owe you money! lol) AND who attended the conference in spite of the fact that she was working graveyards (she took naps in her van, which was parked in the parking garage!) -- I simply adore you. Brad, even tho he is smart and hot and all that, is a very lucky man! And I am a very lucky person to have a friend like you. Thank you.
To Stitchy (Kathy) and her also hot hubby Tom. Thank you both for sitting in my living room floor sorting through brochures, and then for spending an evening with us stuffing folders and handout bags. Kathy, thank you for the shawl. I love it. And thank you both for Monday afternoon. Those few hours in your home, listening to beautiful music by your very talented daughters, drinking coffee, and getting an hour-long Stitchy Special back rub was absolutely divine. You two blessed me so much. Boise already feels lonely without you. Thank you for being such caring and loving friends. And Tom.. I love your hugs!
To Julz (Julie), my talented, gifted, pure-hearted, friend who makes me laugh and makes me cry - thank you for pouring your precious personality into the Hotter Than Betty Contest. Only your special touch could have made it so much fun and so very special for us all. And thank you for being brave enough to bring your Jewelz to the conference. I'm tickled pink that you were so blessed. I told you that you've got something very unique and special there.. Everyone wanted a piece of Julz. I'm so proud of you for staying strong, my dear sister. I love you.
To Damiana Uberuaga - You have helped me become the semi-healthy person I am today. I admire your beauty, your grace, your wisdom, and your loving heart. Thank you for giving your time each month to help us crazy Idaho folks, and thank you for bringing a bit of what you've given us to share with everyone who attended the conference. I wish they could all be as blessed as those of us who get to learn from you each month. People told me how much your teaching had opened their eyes to their behaviors... what a huge leap in the right direction for them! Thank you!
Angela, those are wonderful pictures! You are such a beautiful lady. My favorite is the one of you and Julz. I think I need a wall of B2G family pics and that one MUST be on it! :)
Christie, one of my few regrets about the weekend was not getting more time with you. You are such a generous and caring person. Thank you again for your beautiful gifts. I love love love my aspen candle and my B2G fob! That candle will stay in the entry with the B2G bear that Judy made. Two very special gifts from two very special friends. *HUGS*
Erika, I'm so glad you decided that you decided to come to the conference! I was thrilled to see you having such a great time! You and your handsome hubby were smiling every time I looked at you. Thank you for your offer to help out next year. I'll sure take you up on it! :)
Melanie Machado teaches us about strategic eating with the band. We learned about the fasters, grazers, and emotional eaters, and what stategies we take to combat the pitfalls associated with each.
Melanie also showed us how our banded stomachs are like funnels and why eating the proper types of foods will keep us saited longer without experiencing pain.
Susan.. I don't think I can tell you, Paul and everyone that helped out Thank You enough. I came away with a glow in my heart and a renewed friendship with my band. I came home with a cold, I was suppose to see my surgeon today, but cancelled until next Wed, and went to my PCP instead. He came in the room and asked me why I was in Boise.. I could feel my eyes light up and gave him a Reader's Digest version (which is hard for me..lol) He thought it was fantastic and was happy to hear of all the support I'm receiving here.
When I looked at those pictures and saw myself.. I had to take another look and think... OMG I was really there!! It wasn't a dream!!
I laughed when you talked about staying up after that alarm.. ya know.. the thought did 'cross my mind' to stay up..but that's as far as that got.. lol
I've also made a decision to say the word adjustment, and not fill or unfill. It made sense to me after we talked about that.. because after all it is an adjustment of the band. :)
So much I'd like to say.. my brain is still absorbing everything... I might be able to say more later..
This is the only picture I have with the elusive Kaaren Ruth in it! Kaaren is the Director of Consumer Marketing for Allergan, makers of the LAP-BAND System, and she has been a huge supporter of B2G, as well as a good friend. She flew to Boise late Friday night and had to fly back to California on Saturday afternoon, but by golly she was here! I think I got a chance to speak with her twice before she was gone. The words, "thank you" seem so inadequate, but thank you I do.. with all of my heart, Kaaren! (Kaaren is the beautiful red head sitting beside Jerrod Overstreet)
I can't believe I was in Boise just 4 days ago....and back in classes and typing a mid-term paper on Wednesday afternoon -- sitting here reading your thread Susan - I am blessed - so so blessed - meeting great friends -- like I said on stage at the closing event -- we ARE a family - and this weekend was a family reunion - meeting friends we know but never met in person....
The pictures - I cry every time I see them - from joy! from overwhelming feelings of love for every person who was there this weekend.
I'm like everyone else - I can't even begin to write down everything I'm feeling...as others are also saying -- so hang in there everyone - eventually these "nuggets" of gold will come out on the boards.
I've identified my "marbles" :) and am working on getting rid of those one day at a time!
Love love love the pictures- the love - the laughter - the tears - and Susan there are not enough words to express how impressed and blessed I was by all the hard work that you and so many others put into making this weekend so successful! I can't wait for the next conference!
Have to add -- it's so amazing to see pictures posted by everyone - no two people caught the same events or people exactly the same - and it is enlightening and surprising to see what I missed - even though I was there! lol
Angela taught that when we are stressed or anxious or upset, rather than reaching for food as our escape, we can close our eyes, take deep breaths (all the way from the bottom of our lungs), and imagine being in the most beautiful place in the world. Ahhh... relaxing!
8538
Angela shared her personal story of how she chose health over a life in a wheelchair and reversed MS! What an inspiration! Angela detoxes her body once a week by eating only fresh organic fruits and veggies and drinking lots of water. She taught us the importance of avoiding pesticides on foods, hormones in meats and dairy, and how to replace over the counter and harm drugs with natural alternatives. She is a big advocate of moderation... No extremes!
Feel better soon - LOTS of Vitamin D (I found a chewable calcium with vit d) just like the ER told us - to fend off the Swine (H1N1) Flu!
Greg, that's awesome. I still call my mommy when the world isn't treating me right....always makes me feel better! Hopefully one day, my daughter will call me for the same reasons!
I hope everyone with the Boise Bug gets better soon! I think we are finally all well here. My daughter freaked me out this morning, complaining of a stomach ache....turns out she was just hungry...whew! Kids just can't describe their pain very well!
Hello everyone! Thank you for all the well wishes. I'm up, but dragging. I talked to Carla this morning.. both she and Jerry came down with the H1N1, so watch for symptoms. Yesterday I was complaining about my sinuses, headache, weakness and fatigue, and oddly enough my legs hurt so bad when I stood up. Carla said that one of the symptoms is your bones hurting so much they feel broken. Wow, I had no idea.
I'm going to take my temp today to be sure I'm not running a fever. Yesterday I sat here fully dressed, with socks and slippers on my feet, wrapped in my lovely shawl that Stitchy made for me, and covered by a fuzzy blanket and I was still cold! So maybe...
Ok, enough whining. I'll be fine. I'll just ride it out like everyone else! I have plenty of water and I have my mom living with me, so I'm all set! :thumb:
Thanks for watching over me. You all are a wonderful family! *HUGS*
Please tell Carla and Jerry to get well soon.. and YOU too!! Mine was more bronchitis acting, thank goodness no bones aching, but I'm tellin' ya.. it's kicking my hiney big time! No energy, well I have bursts of energy but then I sit and rest after.. I made a bigggg ole pot of chicken veggie barley soup when I got home from Boise.. nothing like chicken soup to make ya feel all warm and cozy (at least with me anyway.. lol).
Take care.. and I hope your Mom and Paul are doing well too.. you're Mom is such a sweetheart.. I didn't get to talk with her much.. but she sure is a sweetheart.. you guys look like sisters (my daughter doesn't like it when someone tells us that).. lol
Boy, you sure are lucky to have your mommy there for you. I came down sick last Thursday. It was bound to happen, what with a house full of sick kids and adults! Went to the doctor yesterday, he perscribed a new inhaler, ( mine was several years out of date ) and some prednisone and cough syrup, the kind that is supposed to knock you out. Did not knock me out!
My fever is not as high as it was this weekend, now it is around 99. something to 100. something. It is the coughing that is driving me nuts!
Sure wish I had a MOMMY to come take care of me.
I found the site for H1n1 from the CDC.. I was checking incubation period and stuff.. For those of us that went to the conference, if you aren't sick already, you aren't going to come down with it.. Here is the site for further reference..
I loved looking at the photos! Thank you Sara and Susan. The g2g was inspiring. Thanks so much for all the work that went into this weekend.
I missed hearing Dr. Anderson on Sunday. What was the "it" that he told you not to get? i loved meeting people I have only seen in little photos, yet when you meet it feels like family you have always known. You know the family you would pick if you had a choice? :0) Thanks for everything again. Hope everyone is well and over H1N1 by now. Deb
